Who We Are

Over three decades of empowering refugees and immigrants to build new lives in America.

Our History

The Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC) was founded in 1983 as a community-based organization dedicated to assisting refugees and immigrants in the United States. Over the past 33+ years, ECDC has grown into a nationally recognized resettlement agency with offices across the country.

The Houston Multicultural Center (HMC) is ECDC's 8th branch office, established to serve the diverse refugee and immigrant communities in the greater Houston metropolitan area — one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the nation.

Today, HMC provides comprehensive services including refugee resettlement, employment assistance, language interpretation, ESL classes, youth mentorship, and community integration programs.
